In 2018, Yes Etc was invited to create an original concept for Virgin’s newest endeavor: an arts-forward, adults-only cruise ship dubbed Virgin Voyages. Striving to swap out classic Broadway cruise productions for immersive and modern entertainment, Yes Etc. created a series of shows that push the boundaries of the traditional cruise experience to create never before seen and unforgettable performances.

Harnessing House of Yes’ leading voice within the nightlife space, Yes Etc collaborated with Virgin’s vision to reimagine the cruise experience for a new generation.

Harnessing House of Yes’ leading voice within the nightlife space, Yes Etc collaborated with Virgin’s vision to reimagine the cruise experience for a new generation. The resulting project was Heartbeat, a branded ‘House of Yes’ experience to be the pinnacle dance party infused with live performances, surprise spectacles, and interactive games. As launch partners for the maiden voyage, Yes Etc designed Heartbeat to be wholly-owned by Virgin and continuously operated for years to come as the marquee nightlife experience of Virgin’s first-ever cruise ship, The Scarlet Lady.

OUR MAGIC

  • Contributed the ‘House of Yes’ likeness to boost Virgin’s cultural cache.

  • Conceptualized ‘Heartbeat’ name & supplementary copy.

  • Creative-directed the ‘Heartbeat’ visual identity and staging concepts.

  • Designed & executed event production, including branded assets, event decor.

  • Designed & executed stage production including costumes, lighting, & branded projection mapping elements.

  • Designed the guest experience in collaboration with an on-site operations team.

  • Developed the experience to be traveled across different markets and cruises.

  • Sourced, curated, and cast a spectacular retinue of entertainers.

To celebrate the inaugural journey of the Scarlet Lady, Yes Etc. worked with Thrillist to host a three-day floating festival aboard the ship. Looking to emulate the international inspiration of Virgin Voyages and celebrate the adults-only theme, Yes Etc. curated several pop-up parties scattered throughout the ship, including a prohibition-era nightclub and a nautical day party in the ship’s main pool. Events included a ‘Feeling Nauty’ Drag Pool Party hosted by iconic drag performer and comedian Trixie Mattel, and a Music Festival headlined by Major Lazer Soundsystem, making for a three-day nonstop party and event space to truly celebrate the iconic event.
